Just recently, Gold Dot created a new line of yet another most coveted shoe called BLANC. It's a more basic and price-friendly line for girls who love flats. Basically, the styles are much more simpler that would cater to a bigger market among women. Since flats are indeed essential in every woman's wardrobe.

For the first release of this line, shoe designer Karl Leuterio was inspired to create 3 flats- The Emi, The Esme and Eriko. Being a guy, Karl wanted to incorporate a touch of androgynous, metallic, and sportswear to the shoes hence the padded ankle straps and cut out elements of the shoes.

The Esme is a 2 way flats which can be both be worn in any way. It has metallic snaps at the back portion. You can snap it or not depending on the mood or outfit. The Emi, on the other hand, were inspired by space age, future and sportwear hence the glass foil metallic palette. The last one is Eriko, is simple cut out loafer. It's extremely chic. A downplayer in any outfit however, the simple details are what sets it apart. It has a metallic feature too. All 3 designs have gum soles and has a cushion to provide comfort.

And, Oh my goodness! BIG BAD WOLF dishes are mind blowing! They're absolutely delicious. My favorite dish among that was served, are the potato skins with boursin dip, goat cheese&chorizo rolls and bacon-pesto fettucine (I separated the chorizo and bacon though, 'cause I'm vegetarian). I can't wait to go back and dine!

A weekend of everything that flies

Yesterday, I went to the 17th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta held at Clark Freeport, Pampanga. It was my first time to attend the festival, and so I took the opportunity to get the Coachella/Glastonbury vibe on, hence the festival-dressing outfit. The whole venue really reminds me so much of Coachella/Glastonbury, because of the several tents set-up, stalls of food, music, picnic on the grass grounds and the sea of people!

All in all, I enjoyed the sight of the sunrise of hot air balloons of differing designs and sizes, flying kites, different training aircraft, helicopters, commercial and light planes and air rescues, sky diving and paragliding stunts. Here are the rest of the photos I took from the festival -

I spotted these pants in Zara's lookbook a few months back and I've also seen it worn by many international bloggers that I follow- Andy of Style Scrapbook, Carolina of Fashion Squad, Sandra of 5inch and up and Leandra of Man Repeller to name a few. It really caught my senses, I had a little heart attack over how awesome the print was. I've been dreaming of these coveted pants ever since so when I finally saw them at the stores last month I bought my dream pants right away and now I've officially jump into the bandwagon. Loving the combination blue, black, red and white and how the uneven pattern on each leg differs slightly from one another. The material of the pants is actually corduroy I had no idea until I saw it but it's very cool and light against the skin plus it's super comfy. It's my favorite pants so far!

Laoag La Paz in Ilocos Norte is the only desert in the Philippines with real sand dunes. The dunes in Ilocos is the only one in our country and a great venue for extreme sand-boarding that is a unique activity found only in this place. Raffles Design Institute Manila: Mini-Talk Series #2

I first learned about Raffles Design Institute when I was invited last November 2011 for WGSN's Trend Forecasting seminar, which I blogged about (here) and during a short introduction and tour around the institute, which I also blogged about (here).

Last Wednesday, I was again invited at Raffles Design Institute Manila as they kick off the year with a mini-talk series for selected members of the press and bloggers. The media event is a 20-minute talk/sit-in class about the courses the school has to offer. These talks were handled by the academic team of the institution. The lineup of talks is as follows:Fashion Draping by Janet Emmanuel (Fashion Design), Interior Design Industry Predictions for 2012 and Beyond by Lee Miles (Interior Design), Drawing: An Essential Step in Design by Buz Walker-Teach (Visual Communication), and Fashion Advertising by Nela San Jose (Fashion Marketing and Management).

Dr. Janet Emmanuel is the academic director and Fashion Design senior lecturer. She obtained her BA in Fashion Design from the Liverpool John Moores University, her MA in Textiles from the Manchester Metropolitan University, and PhD in Technology, Textiles and Sculpture from the Liverpool John Moores University in UK. During our sit-in at her class, Dr. Janet and her students showed us how they work on the design concepts and processes to final production of their creation.

Mr. Lee Miles is the Interior Design senior lecturer. He obtained his BS in Interior Design Environment Architectures and MA in Environment Design from Ravensbourne College Of Design and Communication in UK. During the talk, he had discussed the big trends in design and the many types of formats, known as megatrend that are heavily influenced by real world event and issues. His overall prediction for the interior design this year is that, there will be a growing division between high and low end and, megatrends will continue to combine and merge design disciplines.

Mr. Buz Walker-Teach is the Visual Communication senior lecturer. He obtained his BA in Fine Art (Graphic Design) in USA. On his discussion, he told us all about visual communication, the concepts and skills involved in major practical projects and also showed us different creative kinds of visual arts made by famous visual artists and also some of his works.

Ms. Nela San Jose, is fashion marketing and management lecturer. She obtained her BSc in Business Management at DLSU, Philippines and Professional Designation Degree from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA. We start-off the talk with a very exciting game of identifying the brand ads and then proceed to the lecture about advertising, it's history and all about fashion advertising.

Aside from the programs emphasized above, they are now offering professional business education for the following disciplines: Management, Banking and Finance, Marketing and, Tourism and Management. The programmes follow modern, international curriculums of the highest standard designed to nurture creative professionals and entrepreneurs.

So to sum up, RDI is indeed a perfect place that encourages the development of certain ideas, talent and skills of young professionals who wish to pursue jobs in fashion, art and design. They help you to be globally-competitive by assisting you with the challenging internship and furthering your studies abroad.

Well, it's definitely the season of heavy dose of clashing prints&patterns and I'm very much obsessed with this trend. When it comes to pairing patterns, pretty much anything goes! The simple trick is to keep color palettes complementary- that is, with similar color scheme and avoid mixing too many prints at once. And since this is a bold look, keep accessories minimal. Layering prints is indeed a good way to be more daring on your style.

This was achieved when I toned down the sequined top by wearing it with simple pieces and a striped blazer. We went to church earlier that night and celebrated New Years with an intimate dinner at home with the family so keeping it simple yet edgy was a perfect nye outfit!

Discover and Experience the katsu craze at YABU

Japanese food is one of my favorite cuisine. I love it so much that I have tried all Japanese restaurants there is here in the city. Last month (at exactly 11-11-11) a new Japanese restaurant opened. I've always wanted to try out Yabu ever since I've heard great raves about it from other bloggers and people who've already tried it. Fortunately, a few days ago I was invited by Connect Agency to try-out Yabu and I immediately said yes! So, I went there last tuesday to have a group dinner date with my fellow blogger friends.

Yabu: House of Katsu is well-known for their authentic Japanese katsu. This newly opened one-of-a-kind Japanese restaurant is owned by Mr. John Marie Concepcion, father of Mike Concepcion (owner of greater good). The etymology of the word "Yabu" comes from the word "Ya" which means eight and "Bu" which means two so, combining those two words "Yabu" means the perfect ten.

Once you step right thru Yabu you will definitely be wow-ed with the classy and modern Japanese interiors, as well as be enticed with the cozy ambiance that will really make you feel relaxed. The Japanese themed interiors such as the Manga-inspired comic strips on the left side of the wall, the wooden panels on the other side, the cubed ones that are made from wooden masu cups (what the Japanese use in drinking sake) and the sake display are just exquisite!

Like what I've mentioned earlier, Yabu is well known for the authentic Japanese katsu and on their menu you will be delighted to discover that they have variety of katsu dishes. Notice the condiments on the table, they're the special spices and sauces to enhance your taste buds. The two big bottles are the dressings (sesame and vinaigrette sauce) that you add to your cabbage salad which by the way, is unlimited serving! The other bottles contains the special katsu sauce, special pink salt, chili powder and garlic powder for more flavor to your katsu.

Now let's go on to the best part, Food! While waiting for our main dish, we were first served with appetizers- cold silken tofu cubes, green soybeans, seaweed and potato salad. I like how light and healthy the appetizers are! It will surely boost up your appetite. Then, we were served with special sesame seeds, this is the part where you prepare your own katsu sauce/dip which is a brilliant idea I must say. All you have to do is follow the four simple step: grind-pour-mix-dip. Grind the sesame seed in a gentle circular motion, pour on the katsu sauce on grinded sesame seeds, mix it and there you have it! your sauce/dip is prepared! The sauce is tangy, just a perfect taste to combine with your katsu. After I finished preparing my katsu sauce/dip, they served our meal just on time. Since I'm vegetarian, they have prepared a special vegetarian katsu set for me (special because they don't have this dish on the menu) and Pau who was with me had Kurobuta tonkatsu set (which is their best seller). We both love our katsu set, it's so delicious, so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The katsu is cooked to perfection. After the sumptuous meal they served us dessert, choco lava ala mode. The warm chocolate cake is so moist topped with a creamy vanilla ice cream. It also tasted great!

If you want an awesome dining experience, Yabu is the best to be! This is a great venue to bond with your family and catch up with friends. You will definitely have a wonderful experience at Yabu, the restaurant looks exquisite, the food taste great and the crew is very friendly and accommodating.

This is what I'm wearing today at my parent's 25th wedding anniversary where earlier this morning they renewed their vows on a very simple and intimate wedding celebration. Later on, we will be having dinner with my dad and mom's closest friends. So yeah, I was supposed to wear a silver dress to be in the theme but believe it or not, I couldn't find any! I found this shoe instead and bought it right away. Yes I bought myself a new pair of shoes again, I know! Good thing I have this dress which I haven't worn yet. I think the color of the dress matches the shoe so I opted to pair it with it. Tonight I'll be wearing a blue blazer on top 'cause it's a little bit chilly. So, that's all for now, off to dinner!

In the pouring rain

See, I've been shopping a lot of stuff lately for the holiday season. I'm supposedly shopping for Christmas gifts but so far all my purchases are for myself, Evil me! I love shopping too much!

Anyway, I've been wishing for a rainy weather, for a good excuse to wear this jumper and boots that I recently bought. Nothing's more perfect to wear on this chilly and gloomy weather than those two. Opted to pair the jumper with a shorts, I'm that person that goes bare legged as often as possible, I'd rather be a bit chillier on the bottom and wrapped in for a little warmth on top. Aside from that, I always choose to wear boots because it avoids sliding off the slippery floor and protects my feet from getting wet.

We used to be skeptical looking at someone wearing nothing but orange in color. Time has changed and what seems to be weird some time ago, doesn’t seem so today, don’t you think? People nowadays are embracing to wear bold bright colors and yes! I'm on the same bandwagon. What I love about this color is that, it is a very flattering hue since it instantly adds a natural glow to your skin tone. It also provides you with the perfect means to express your cheer for the warm weather. Just remember to wear the color in a monochromatic fashion or pair a piece with a contrasting print.

The Aziza Collection

The Aziza Collection is a mix of fantasy, color, light and a vivid imagination. Young jewelry designer Aziza Mondoñedo creates a collection of unique rings, necklaces and earrings that reflect the vivacity life. Each unique piece is a realization of a dream, built with a rainbow of colors made up of aquamarine, kunzite, tanzanite, topaz, citrine, moonstones, amethyst, sapphires, quartz, cabochon all in various colors. Blogger's United 2: An Interactive Shopping Affair

Manila’s finest fashion bloggers will leave their laptops at home once again to attend BLOGGERS UNITED BAZAAR (Part 2) on December 3, 2011 at Treston International College, Taguig, this coming holiday season.

It is the second installment of the first-ever Bloggers United: An Interactive Shopping Affair, which was held last May. Due to insistent demand from readers and bloggers alike, Bloggers United team in partnership with the country’s largest online shopping website, Multiply Philippines have gathered Manila’s fashion bloggers to sell their pre-loved but very stylish closet pieces!

This event is the perfect opportunity for both bloggers and their adoring readers to mingle and personally interact with each other. Fun contests and exciting giveaways from sponsors and entertaining performances from bloggers (Walkie Talkies, Reese & Vica) themselves will definitely keep this event from being a dull one.

Some of the notable bloggers attending the event include Divine Lee, Laureen Uy, Kookie Buhain, Lissa Kahayaon, David Guison, Karl Leuterio, Patricia Prieto and Preview Magazine’s own Daryl and Andre Chang.

Exemption to the rule

One of the biggest color matching concerns is wearing black with brown. Everyone has heard at least one old fashion rule, “never mix black and brown in an outfit”. This rule is one of the most pervasive old fashion rules out there and it’s just not true at all! Here’s the thing, it’s all the way you put it together!

So how do you make it work? Remember that neutrals go with everything! Neutrals, after all, go with every color, you can wear them with pretty much anything including each other. Make sure that you have a lighter shade of brown color when you pair it with black, it’s easier to pull off a black and brown outfit when you use shades of camel, taupe, or nude. These creates a nice contrast with the black. Add up a hint of animal print that contains both black and brown and accessorize with gold accents and a pastel color that match both colors, so building an outfit around it will be a piece of cake.

Matching colors does not have too be a fashion challenge. Just mix and match, wear what you think looks good and be a trend setter!

Last November 12, Global style statements reign over the runway as retailers of Shangrila-Plaza unveiled the year’s most coveted holiday looks at its annual Holiday Fashion Show. Top styling teams Ferdi Salvador and John Lozada of the F.A.S.H., Metro Magazine’s Fashion Editor Mela de Luna and MEGA Magazine’s Fashion Editor Angela Alarcon take on the season’s top looks and hottest trends.

Dubbed "Retail to Runway", this year’s fashion feat saw an eye-catching fusion of the holiday season’s key trends taking to the ramp via stylized ensembles by participating brands Accessorize, Anthem, A/X, Bauhaus, Bergamo, Bossini, Celine, CMG, Crossings Department Store, Daniel Hechter, Debenhams, Diesel, Furla, Gap, Izod, K & Co., Kenneth Cole, Mango, Marks & Spencer, Massimo Dutti, Michael Kors, Mico Boutique, M)Phosis, Nautica, Original Penguin, Pab Der Uomo, Raoul, Rustan’s Department Store, The Travel Club, Topshop, Warehouse and Zara.

The fashion show was divided in three portion according to the theme, Comfort, Glam Chic and Luxury. I was able to witness the first part where Ferdi Salvador and John Lozada of the F.A.S.H. team, showcase the key to functional fashion- Comfort. The collection is all about casual yet holiday-ready range of utilitarian outfits skillfully styled through smart layering, mixing and matching and accessorizing. They showed how ease of style can be achieved by fusing rack-relevant separates with statement pieces.

This year’s Holiday Fashion Show was indeed an exciting affair that elevated every shopper and stylephile’s anticipation of dressing for the much awaited time of year. Now, you can be ready to dress up for every kind of celebration this Yuletide season!

A Haven Of Health Rises In Makati: Sugarleaf… Foods That Nourish At The MEDICard Lifestlye Center.

Sugarleaf formally opened the doors of its second branch in Makati City last 11-11-11 at 11am, bringing to the denizens of the central business districts, the unique take on healthy eating and living. This is a partnership between Sugarleaf, Inc. and the MEDICard Lifestyle Center, the haven of health is located at the ground and second floors of the beautiful new building at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue in Urdaneta Village.

Sugarleaf at the MEDICard Lifestyle Center features a sizeable retail section occupying the ground floor of the two level space. The mini-mart offers organic produce from certified high and lowland farms, home-made dressings, natural and organic food and non-food products, local and imported superfoods, Jello's Coco-Kefir Ice cream and a lot more. While, the dining room on the upper level serves a healthy, great tasting menu optimising organic, natural ingredients and super food, Goody Kefir probiotic food and drinks, low glycemic desserts, non-dairy coconut kefir ice cream, organic produce and Sweety pies'.

Afterwards, we enjoyed the health yummy cocktails prepared by Sugarleaf’s co-owner Gina S. Yambot. Sugarleaf’s best-selling turkey waldorf and smoked salmon sandwiches, Goody beef, crabstick and mango wraps were served complemented by fresh organic salad and Sugarleaf’s signature vinaigrettes and authentic Goody Kefir dressing and refreshing Goody Kefir mango-banana smoothies. The decadent pastries by Sweety Pies' that were served are healthy and low-glycemic.

Being a vegetarian for years now, this is a perfect one-stop place for me to buy and eat organic and healthy foods. It's also excellent for those who also want to have a healthy eating lifestyle. You need not look any further, Sugarleaf have everything that is healthy, it's the place to be!
